How can statistics demonstrate the attributes of God? What does it look like for Christians to engage data honestly? I thoroughly enjoyed my conversation with Byran Smucker on using data responsibly.
Byran lives in Hamilton, OH (close to Cincinnati) with his wife, Amy, and their four children. He has a PhD in Statistics and Operations Research from Penn State and is an Associate Professor of Statistics at Miami University in Oxford, OH.
In the expanded version, we spend an extra twenty minutes discussing what to do when data contradicts our beliefs. You can listen to it here.
Mentioned in the episode is Byran’s blog, The Bylog Redux. I recommend checking out his reflections on the book Jesus and John Wayne.
Once you’re finished, I’d love to hear which aspect of the discipline of statics challenged you the most. You can share in the comments below.
Transitional music for this episode has been contributed by Corey Steiner. The opening song is Sunset Drive by Evert Z.
