The generation before us laid the groundwork for rethinking the way we do church—the way we do life, really. Because of our parents, many of us are free to question the status quo. We are free to revisit the methodology of church, romance, family, discipleship, and with that revisiting, comes radical possibilities. Some good, some not good.
We stumble over ourselves in finding ways to do some ridiculous things. Drinking alcohol is one of them. It’s the latest craze, in my generation. And so, as a millennial who is tired of silly things in the church, can I throw a wrench into your excited scramble to have a beer?
Every generation has to find their place in history. For one, morality may be the trump struggle they face. For another, it may be poverty.
For us, there’s never been a more Christian time in history. And that’s making us ask questions. How do we know what we’ve been taught all these years is right?
With as many faults as our parents may have, we have been given a lot. We have been given faith blocks to build on—will we building on them? Do we want more of God, and are we willing to take what they gave us and add to it?
