Is overturning Roe a good thing? Why should we celebrate it? Would overturning Roe eliminate abortion? What else should Christians do to fight abortion?

When Tension Is High, Here’s How You Can Make the Most of Your Time with Family
There’s nothing like the dinner table to bring out the best and the worst in family. And after a year of tension, some families might be glad COVID-19 restrictions limit gatherings.
It’s Okay to Enjoy Valentine’s Day
At the end of the day, I think what we are all looking for is verbal recognition that we matter, that just because I’m not at the same stage of life is you doesn’t mean one of us is missing out on something.
When people walk away from something, it begs the question “Why?”
When I listen to those who are leaving, I hear of young people whose parents never allowed them to question what the church did; or who, when they decided to leave, were told they were a great disappointment to their parents.
Children, Obedience, and Mission Field #1
Someone recently submitted the question: “What is your view on child training?” Here’s my response…
When Is Preserving Marriage Enabling Abuse?
When is preserving marriage enabling abuse? Is all divorce sin? Does “turning the other cheek” apply to victims of domestic violence?
All this and more discussed in this week’s patron-sponsored blog post.
10 Bold Predictions about the Millennial Generation of Anabaptists
The generation before us laid the groundwork for rethinking the way we do church—the way we do life, really. Because of our parents, many of us are free to question the status quo. We are free to revisit the methodology of church, romance, family, discipleship, and with that revisiting, comes radical possibilities. Some good, some not good.
Two Deadly Temptations Young Influencers Fail to See
If you are an older brother or sister, a husband or wife, a teacher, parent, project manager, writer, speaker, deacon, pastor, coach, person with friends, or anyone that relates with other people, you have influence. As your influence grows, you will face temptations that could destroy you.
In this post, I discuss two particular temptations I have found that we least expect to face when we are young influencers.
Transitions and “Intangible” Earthly Possessions
I don’t know about you, but whenever I come to the end of a season, I find myself looking back and evaluating how it went. Did I do my best? Did I grow? If so, what did I learn? What happened during this season that will forever shape my life and my relationships? How am I different because of this season? How has it made me better? What am I motivated to change because of this season? What do I want to carry on into the next season?
These are the questions I find myself compulsively asking during this stage of life. Most of it I write down in my journal. Maybe share with a few close friends. I certainly don’t intend to air it all for the world to see. However, maybe you are also going through transition or have gone through transition. If you haven’t already, you probably will one day, and maybe a few of the musings I have from looking back and evaluating through this transition will resonate with you.
That’s what I plan to blog about during the next couple of months. If I have the time and space, I may develop a few random more in-depth posts on relevant topics and needed discussions. But for now, I’ll relegate those to the back-burner and simply open parts of my journal and share some musings.
My Personal Testimony
Life is rarely cookie-cutter simple. Whether it’s relationships, family, money, following God, church, our jobs, or deciding which jeans to buy, life isn’t as easy as we wish it was.
Some people live as if life is a formula to be solved, but there is no formula to solve the disillusionment and confusion we sometimes feel. Perhaps that’s why I like to tackle issues on this blog that are relevant to my generation. I want this blog to be a place that helps people sort through the hard questions they face.
It seems to be resonating.
In the last year, the readership on this blog has increased by more than six hundred percent (600%). I typically assume that my readers know me and where I come from, but as is natural with such growth and as I’ve been discovering over the last six months, many, if not most, of my readers don’t know my background. So I thought that this week I would share with you my personal testimony.
11 Simple Values I Appreciate from My Anabaptist Heritage
Heritage is powerful. God saved Lot because of his family heritage through Abraham. If it wasn’t for Abraham’s intercession, Lot would have destroyed along with Sodom.
Everyone who knows the story of Lot remembers that his family became enemies to Israel. God pronounced judgement on them. The godly heritage of his uncle, which could have been passed on, was destroyed.
Why? Because of Lot’s choices. He chose the better fields, subsequently, “pitching his tent toward Sodom.” (Gen. 13:8-13) He later lived in the city of Sodom and would have gone up in flames with it if it wasn’t for Abraham. (Gen. 18:22-33)
What You Mean to Those Who Watch
I caught my son looking at me the other day. I was guilty. I knew it, but I’m not sure he did. I had just responded rather impatiently to my wife. He was watching. Saw every move. Heard every word. Recently, I have noticed how much my son looks at me. I don’t always catch […]
